The Word «SALT» in the ancient and modern Greek Language (gr)

English

In the context of the High School  lesson of the Ancient Greek Language, the ancient word “als” (=salt) was given to the 3d year class in order to find same-root words in the ancient Greek language and to create derivative words in the modern Greek language.

We wrote words, separating them in categories (verbs-nouns-adjectives) and explained their meaning. We looked for and found expressions with the word “salt” in modern Greek, and their metaphorical sense was discussed. We also searched for the root of the word “als” in other indoeuropean languages, and a common origin was established.
