Salt in Medieval Times

Our part of the Comenius- Project "SALT OF THE EARTH " was to explore the salt - routes and salt ways in Medieval times.

The "Hanse" - an association of trade - towns like Hamburg and Lübeck helped to make trading roads and shipping routes secure for the "White Gold" .

Traditionally the salt in Medieval times was transported from the producing towns like Lüneburg to Lübeck, the Hanse town on the Baltic Sea. From there it went to Reval, called: The town built on the White Gold.

Reval is now Tallin and capital of Estonia, where our partner school in Maarja Magdalena lies.

So we invented a play about the Salt-ways from Lüneburg to Lübeck in the year 1202 , which will be recorded in September, and wrote a lot of information cards about Medieval times according to Salt which will be translated into English by and by.

You can download the play and the cards here.
