Scottish Report – Key points only SALT of the Earth
Johnstonebridge Primary School - Work to December 2013
Main Tasks:
- Completing the writing of our SALT play to perform at Christmas.
- Learning about Europe – making a key facts sheet about our partner countries. (Links to database work with the children)
- This will be sent around after the meeting and be added to the website as a project resource
- Whole school Comneius days with our scrapbooks (2) –
Talking about Salt / the project / looking at photos,/ researching for information about our countries, etc
- Financial Education about money and changing Sterling to Euros (We brought in a worker from the bank.)
- Drama – working on the SALT Play. Music / production
- Making Salt Caramels for the Christmas Market
- Christmas Production and Trading Fayre in the Village Hall selling items (Enterprise / Finance)

ITALY
Italian Report – Key points only SALT of the Earth
“Chiara e Francesco d’Assisi Primary School Cantù
Work to December 2013
Main Tasks:
- Refering to the story the pupils created in May 2013 with Khudela, we prepared different "welcome activities" in Sept for the beginning of the school year. The "Lariosauro" had been the main character of the activities so all the pupils could learn the plot of the story for the Italian part of the e-book. Pupils invented crosswords, acrostics, puzzles, riddles, a short drama... to propore to the very youngest.
- Revision of Europe and the countries involved into the Comenius project "Salt of the Earth"
- Whole school talked about Salt, the project, looking at photos and at the common website.
- Making Salt dough Xmas objects for the Christmas Market in Berlin.
- Making Salt dough Xmas objects for a “benefaction market” organized by parents at school. Each object has got a tag with the title of the project, the name of the school and the common website address.
- Preparing a powerpoint composition with the research about the history of the Salt and the Ancient Romans, the oldest students did last school year, to be published onto the website.
- Preparing a “How to” booklet
- In the first parents’ meeting we presented Comenius project “Salt of the Earth” to the new parents of the school.

Main Tasks:

Greek Report – SALT of the Earth
13th Highschool of Kallithea- Work to December 2013
Main Tasks:
- Introducing new pupils to the Comenius project.
- Welcoming the Polish Team (October), presentation of our work in English by pupils, Salt Celebration, music lab by the music teacher and singing together a polish song, creating the Mangrove Book as present for the Polish.
- Talking about Salt in the ecosystems.
- Arrival of the Saltman: presentation of the Salt box, gathering information , activities with the material.
- The mangroves: information, gathering material, making a powepoint presentation, making mangrove maps.
- Art gallery: drawings inspired by salt in nature (the sea, the mangroves, fish of the tropics), connection with ancient greek art.
- Greek expressions with salt.
- “Salt, a friend or an enemy/salt and food” translated in german.
- An ancient fable by Aesopos, “the donkey and the salt”, translation in English, activities in English.

BELARUS

ΔΡΑΣΤΗΡΙΟΤΗΤΕΣ ΠΟΥ ΠΡΑΓΜΑΤΟΠΟΙΗΘΗKΑΝ ΚΑΤΑ ΤΗΝ ΠΕΡΙΟΔΟ ΣΕΠΤΕΜΒΡΙΟΥ – ΔΕΚΕΜΒΡΙΟΥ 2013
- Γνωριμία των μαθητών της Α’ Γυμνασίου με το Comenius, παρουσίαση του προγράμματος, της ιστοσελίδας μας και του υλικού μας.
- Επίσκεψη Πολωνών καθηγητών στο σχολείο μας (Οκτώβριος 2013)
- Προετοιμασία για την υποδοχή των Πολωνών καθηγητών (αναμνηστικά δώρα, προετοιμασία γιορτής, δημιουργία του Mangrove book για το σχολείο της Πολωνίας).
- Υποδοχή στο σχολείο μας , γνωριμία με τους μαθητές, γιορτή /παρουσίαση του υλικού στα Αγγλικά από τους μαθητές, μουσικό εργαστήρι.
- Αλάτι και οικοσυστήματα.
- Τα μαγκρόβια: συλλογή και επεξεργασία υλικού, δημιουργία σχετικού χάρτη, δημιουργία powerpoint σε ελληνικά/αγγλικά.
- Art gallery: ζωγραφιές μαθητών με έμπνευση από το αλάτι στην φύση (θάλασσα, μαγκρόβια οικοσυστήματα, σύνδεση με την τέχνη της αρχαίας Ελλάδας).
- Εκφράσεις με το αλάτι, πολιτιστικά στοιχεία σε Ελλάδα και Ευρώπη.
- «Ο γάιδαρος και το αλάτι», μύθος του Αισώπου – γλωσσικές δραστηριότητες στα αγγλικά και μετάφραση από τους μαθητές.
- Κρυπτόλεξο (στα αγγλικά) –saltandfood.

- Παρουσίαση του saltbox στους μαθητές, συλλογή και αξιοποίηση του υλικού που μας εστάλη.

- Προετοιμασία δώρων για τα άλλα σχολεία.
- Ελιές και η συμβολή του αλατιού στην επεξεργασία τους, ενημερωτικό φυλλάδιο (στα αγγλικά) για διανομή του στα άλλα σχολεία και στηv Χριστουγεννιάτικη Αγορά.
- Ενημέρωση για την Χριστουγεννιάτικη αγορά, εισαγωγή στην οικονομική/εμπορική διάσταση του αλατιού.
- Προετοιμασία για την πώληση ελιών στην Χριστουγεννιάτικη αγορά, labeling.
- Μετάφραση του φυλλαδίου «Αλάτι, φίλος ή εχθρός για την υγεία μας/Το αλάτι στα τρόφιμα» στα γερμανικά (για διανομή του στηv Χριστουγεννιάτικη Αγορά).
